Even in the most dangerous of situations, Barbara Stanwyck on screen always found a smart way to get out of it. With her sheriff husband recovering from being shot by a criminal, Stanwyck steps in to escort convicted killer Vic Morrow to prison. They're handcuffed together, but Morrow manages to grab the gun, shoots the driver, and drags her off to find a way to free himself completely.
Any fan of Barbara Stanwyck would know that on screen, she's very resourceful and even as the most villainous of characters manages to fool her way out of most deadly situations. But here, she's in peril, yet that's not about to stop her from seeing justice served. Certain scenes are rather corny (Stanwyck asking Morrow about his mother), but it's about psychology when you're in a situation like this. The two rise above the plot holes and that makes it better than it should have been. But the alternative of how he initially wanted to get the handcuffs off truly is disturbingly vile.
