- Mr. Drysdale's idea for Christmas presents are ones only fit for coastal California, like diving suits and a boat, and a television set, which Granny thinks is some kind of fancy washing machine.
- A Beverly Hills Christmas presents challenges for the Clampetts -- and for Mr. Drysdale, whose "clever strategy" for keeping the Clampetts in coastal California is to give them a number of aquatic-themed presents, including wetsuits, a boat (with a chimp aboard named "Skipper") and a television (which Granny is convinced is a washing machine). The Clampetts are shocked to find the boat outside their home, believing that an incompetent seaman has landed there accidentally, and are further baffled by the strange-looking "sailor" on board the vessel. With his wife wearing HER gift, a new fur coat, the Drysdales drop by and explain about the boat, and Margaret is excited to hear that the Clampetts have a gift for her (... a gem?) -- little does she know the gift Elly May has for her is a "full-length mink" -- a PET mink called "Jim".
While Jethro is getting to know the "sailor", Granny happily gives Margaret one of her signature "Christmas gift packs," featuring an assortment of Hillbilly "delicacies". Elly May then announces she lost Margaret's gift while playing with it -- much to the woman's distress -- and she starts madly searching for the "beautiful Jim". Meanwhile, Milburn finds the Clampetts' dog asleep on Margaret's fur -- as a lesson to her he hides it, and in frantic distress she now runs off hunting for her coat as well. The Clampetts size up their new boat and then set out looking for a suitable spot for sailing, but the only boats they see traveling are trailered ones, towed up and down the expressways. Stymied, they return home, concluding that their holiday was a merry one, though a dry one.
