Quotes

  • Steve Sanders : This system is so screwed up.

Jesse Vasquez : Now, wait... wait a minute, Steve. The system works great for some people. I don't hear Griffin or his father, Ted Stone, complaining about it.

Steve Sanders : That's because they had nothing to lose. Griffin betrayed my trust. I was misled to how serious the charges were against me. If I had known the truth about all this with Griffin stealing that house key, or that my own father, Rush, was gonna sell me out, I never would have agreed to waive my rights!

Jesse Vasquez : You really think you got ripped off?

Steve Sanders : Yeah, I do. As much as your client got let down, I got let down too.

Jesse Vasquez : [angry tone]  Well... maybe you did. But I'll just bet that if you weren't a rich and spoiled white boy, you'd probably be sitting in jail right now! So, don't you ever... EVER again say to me that the legal system is screwed up! Is that clear?

  • Griffin Stone : What more do you want from me? It's over.

Steve Sanders : It's not over! We've got two years of probation. We've got community service. And now, thanks to you, I can't even...

Griffin Stone : [interrupting]  Steve, if that's all you're worried about, relax. We'll never have to do those hours. I know a court clerk who knows my father that's right in our pocket and he can get us off with a few phone calls and some rigging of the hours we are supposed to serve.

Steve Sanders : [shaking his head incredulously]  You know what? I was gonna go easy on you and give you until the end of the week to move out, but I just changed my mind. You have one day... no, till the end of today, to pack your things and get the hell out of here! You are to move out of this room, out of this frat house, off campus and never talk to me again!

Griffin Stone : [cocky]  Or what?

[Steve slams Griffin against a wall and grabs him by his collar]

Steve Sanders : Here's what: first I'm going to bash in your head. Then, I'm going to squeeze your neck so hard that you're head's going to pop off! You think I'm kidding? You want to test me? Huh? HUH?

Griffin Stone : [pushes Steve off him; angry, but intimidated]  All right! I give. You win. I'll move out. You'll never see me again.

Steve Sanders : Good. I'm outta here. You'd better be gone by the time I get back!

  • Rush Sanders : Steve, any person who steals a house key to use for a rave does not deserve any understanding.

Steve Sanders : [caught off guard]  What did you say? I didn't steal any key.

Rush Sanders : Drop the innocent act. Griffin already admitted how the two of you lifted that key to that house from his father Ted Stone's reality office. Now if I know you, I'd say the whole thing was your idea!

Steve Sanders : Griffin said he and I lifted the key to the house? Griffin told me that he had permission! That's the only reason why I gave him a cut in the first place!

Rush Sanders : [scoffs]  Yeah... right. At least I'm so glad I don't have to listen to any more of talk about parties or raves ever again.

Steve Sanders : How can you say that? How can you sell me out like this? Dad, this party organizing thing was going to be my career, my future... my livelihood!

Rush Sanders : I'm afraid I can't stand around here and listen to any more of your lying, whining, and moaning. It's over, Steve! You should thank God that you got off light! Now if you don't mind, I have a business meeting I've got to get to downtown. Oh, and one more thing... the next time you get into trouble with the law and you need someone to bail you out, do me a favor: Don't call me. Call your mother.

  • Brandon Walsh : How are you holding up, Steve?

Steve Sanders : OK, I guess. I just could do better without your friend Valerie meddling any further with my legal issues.

Brandon Walsh : Oh, no. What did she do now?

Steve Sanders : She just told me that she's willing to lie under oath at any trial or deposition to protect me. She even hinted that she'd done it before.

Brandon Walsh : I'm not surprised. Ever since we were little kids, Valerie always considered telling the truth to be overrated.

  • Valerie Malone : What exactly are you being charged with, Steve?

Steve Sanders : Disturbing the peace, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, holding an illegal rave, arson, damage to private property, et cetera.

    Valerie Malone : I can't believe it.

Steve Sanders : I can't believe it either. Those charges are bogus! I don't know why the police are making a big deal out of this.

Valerie Malone : Is there anything I can do to help?

Steve Sanders : What can you do? My Dad and Griffin's father's attorney are suggesting I cop to a plea deal of disturbing the peace so the other felony charges can be dropped so that me and Griffin will not do any jail time. I don't know if I should take the offer.

Valerie Malone : If this thing does go to trial, I can help you out if I'm called to testify against you such as where you were when the fire broke out.

Steve Sanders : Which is where? That you and me were having sex in an upstairs bedroom unaware what was happening? That would not only be embarrassing, but it would further damage my credibility and reputation.

Valerie Malone : No, I could say that you and me were nowhere near that party. Or that we just happened to stumble into it, that it was all Griffin's doing.

Steve Sanders : Wait, are you saying you'd be willing to lie under oath to project me?

Valerie Malone : I like to think of it as my version of the events.

Steve Sanders : No thanks. I think I'd rather accept any plea deal than be faced with any collusion to any perjury charge.
