A serious assault takes place outside a gay club in the small hours, the victim is saved by an unknown, who's identified as a copper.
The tide is beginning to turn somewhat, and for anyone that perhaps didn't grow up during this era or earlier, times were very different. Gay characters just weren't represented, certainly not in The Police. Although the gay character is a potential suspect, he's not shown to be someone out cruising or taking drugs, he's shown as heroic and masculine, that makes a nice change.
It's an excellent episode, it looks and feels very original, that opening scene looked and felt unlike any other episode of the show I've seen before, production values are a bit more slick.
Of course there are the jibes you'd expect, but what was surprising, was how Rod turned out, is be perhaps a changed man?
Hard to fault, very well acted and produced, it felt very unique, 9/10.
