Dick Banks is one of those teenagers who enjoys learning about outlaws and guns. In fact, he has a colt 44 his uncle left him, and he's a sharp shooter! He showed Clay, and Clay was impressed.
His father wasn't. His father wasn't impressed with Dick's love for shooting, nor was he impressed with Clay himself. He let Clay know just what he thought of him and his trick shooting right off!
Then two men who had made trouble in the store came back for what they wanted, killing someone in the process. Dick wanted revenge. Could Clay and Marshal Scott convince him that this wasn't the way?
Dabbs Greer played one of the bad guys. I remember him best from Little House on the Prairie where he played Reverend Alden throughout the entire nine year run (and I believe he was in all the movies as well). But Greer has been around for a long time and could be seen in probably every Western television show out there. Most of the time, he played a bad guy - this episode was no exception! Of course, he did play the store owner on Gunsmoke, and though he could be a bit mean at times, he was counted among the good guys.
The similarities this episode had with one from The Rifleman was uncanny. And it happened around the same time. I believe it was in the later first season (I can't remember the name of the episode at the moment). In that episode, Lee Kinsolving played a young boy who lost his father and he wanted to get revenge on the man he felt was responsible. He had the same anger and revenge like speech, and both ended with him learning a lesson about guys.
