Not my favorite episode - Jean Lafitte hides a treasure and gives clues with reference to a tree? Like trees don't change over 140 years? Nevertheless, it has one very interesting moment in it. Rex Randolph, white man, is walking down the street and, not watching where he is going, bumps into an older black woman. He stops. He says, "I beg your pardon," before they both go on. This is 1959! Can you imagine how that went over at southern tv stations? It's been my suspicion that BSB didn't continue because moments like these drove the southern half of the country crazy in 1959, and BSB was full of white people interacting with black people like they were human beings with dignity and jobs. Praise to WB for giving it a try, but partway through the series all the black people, musicians included, had to go. I wonder why.
