The only appearance of Ed Brown's daughter, played by Jill Choder
kevinolzak10 July 2016
"No Room in the Garage" was the only episode scripted by Bill Dana, better known to TV viewers in his hilarious role of Jose Jimenez, who wrote for very few sitcoms (in particular the Sammy Davis episode of ALL IN THE FAMILY), of which this was the last. We are introduced to Ed Brown's plucky 26 year old daughter Sharon (Jill Choder), a nurse's aide who is up for a position in the barrio. As expected her father isn't pleased, having put her through medical school to make sure she gets out of the neighborhood. Chico introduces himself by discussing his grandfather: "if you keep your head exposed, you can see the stars" "your grandfather was a philosopher?" "no, he worked in a sewer!" A very pregnant woman named Dolores (Maria Gahva) shows up at the garage looking for Chico, leading Ed to believe that guess who must be the father, Chico running for help with the birth imminent. Sharon Brown, with her nurse's training, returns to the garage to assure prompt delivery. The happy mother is revealed to be Chico's cousin from south of the border, which means that Ed himself is responsible for the birth of a newborn Chicano! Neither Ed's daughter nor Dolores made a return appearance.
