Ed tampers with juror Chico
kevinolzak16 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
"The Juror" opens with Chico out on jury duty, and unwilling to discuss the case with a third party. Old man Pop Winters (Jack Bernardi), known as 'the saint of East Los Angeles,' is on trial for supposedly accosting a young girl in his hardware store, which Ed remembers from two years before. Chico tries to discourage Ed from influencing him and reports to the Judge (Della Reese), who promptly jails Chico before threatening a five year tampering sentence for Ed. Before long she too is convinced that Pop is innocent, so must disqualify herself from the case, but allows both Ed and Chico to simply go home. The retrial takes place a month later, Pop found innocent by way of the 'kinnydo' problem: "the problem is, at 70 what kinnydo?" This was the first series appearance for Della Reese, who would return as a new character next season (Ronny Graham as Reverend Bemis making the seventh of his nine appearances).
