In doing a "Faces of America" photo layout over many different people, Norman begins to question himself. In every way he sees himself as not normal. He considers changing his free spirit image. He suggests what would help him is if Tom and Eddie come to his new apartment and spend the weekend. Before they leave, Tom tells Eddie that Norman "does things right, but differently." Tom further states that Norman is feeling down for some reason and needs them to show how they love him just the way he is. They begin exploring Norman's wildly mod apartment, complete with a large rock in the living room, before assembling a water bed. Eddie begins adjusting much easier than Tom. An exotic dinner is accompanied by stereo music- of train sounds. Night is interrupted by a sinking water bed and a hippie weaver neighbor, Alex (Ned York), who freely comes and goes through the unlocked door. Norman finally reveals to Tom what is truly bothering him.
Moral: You don't have to always do things normally to do the right thing.
