- Torello's ex is in Vegas with her new man. When they were at a robbery he is taken by the robbers. When she sees the local police are not doing anything, she calls Torello who clashes with the cop in charge.
- A crew of young gunmen including the McNulty brothers rob a bank in Tucson where one of the brothers is badly wounded. The getaway includes taking Dr. John Newhouse, who had just stopped into the bank while on his honeymoon with the former Julie Torrello, as a hostage and to treat the wounded robber. Stonewalled by publicity-hungry Lt. Bauer of the Arizona State Police, Julie goes to Las Vegas to ask Michael Torrello and the Justice Department Strike Force for help. After getting hard-won authorization to tap Stephen Kordo's phones, the Strike Force gets nothing more than Frank Holman's pitch to Kordo to finance & distribute locally-made pornographic films nationwide. Torrello negotiates with Bauer for access to the case with his usual finesse: barging into Bauer's office and threatening to call his own press conference with Julie to embarrass Bauer. Dr. Newhouse cares for the wounded bank robber diligently except when he tries to escape or fights with the crew's vicious leader, "Smilin' Jack." Trapped by her motel room phone with nothing to do but worry, Julie turns to Michael for comfort which leads to a night of passion, then just as quickly to the arguing that tore their marriage apart. The bank robbers hide out in a remote desert trailer-park brothel where they meet their fence--none other than Frank Holman, who is also on location for his first pornographic opus. As Torrello and his men close in, Jack's crew starts to come unglued, Dr. Newhouse nears the limits of his moral & physical endurance and Lt. Bauer once again gets in the way.
