- JR impatiently sits on Holly Harwoods boat in a harbor once again. Holly is sunbathing near by. Holly tells JR she has authorized the purchasing of a refinery, but she would like to know why. JR just gives her the run around about how she will earn money when she does what he says. She asks if he was upset that she turned down his advances and likes Bobby more than him. JR says he doesnt care who she is with, as long as she does what she is told.
We see the triumphant Steven Dusty Farlow riding horseback on Southern Cross Ranch. Dusty and Sue Ellen have tumultuous past. They met at a Rodeo and began an affair when Sue Ellen was married to JR. Sue Ellen left JR for Dusty, but Dusty was in a terrible accident that caused him paralyses and impotence. Sue Ellen stayed with him at Southern Cross Ranch, but when he was able to move again he longed for the rodeo circuit and left. Sue Ellen stands under a tree, as Dusty rides up. She attempts to exchange a flirty smile, but Dusty seems different. Dusty admits that if he had known that Sue Ellen was there, he probably wouldnt have come. Sue Ellen says that she is glad he did. Dusty explains that he will never feel for anyone the way he feels for her and part of him will always love her. Sue Ellen seems pleased and says that if he feels that way; nothing has changed between them.
Miss Ellie and Mavis Andersen arrive at Southfork Ranch and JR greets them in a bathrobe and a cowboy hat. Seems he hardly gets dressed at all anymore. Miss Ellie heads upstairs to hang her dress and JR stops Mavis before she leaves. Mavis seems skeptical of JR throughout this short scene. He asks her about a scholarship that Punk was setting up in Jocks name. Mavis says they have set it up, but arent going to announce it at the ball, because they had such a hard time getting Miss Ellie to attend in the first place; they dont want to upset her. JR tells her that Miss Ellie would love it and Mavis insists that Punk doesnt want to take the chance.
Ray and Donna arrive in Kansas, by car. Aunt Lil comes out of a little house and embraces them. She insists that they stay with her and offers them lemonade.
Dusty and Sue Ellen ride back to the house together and they are greeted by Clayton and an attractive, young blonde girl. Sue Ellen immediately looks surprised to see this girl. Dusty introduces the pretty blonde girl as Linda, his wife. Sue Ellen is shocked. Linda is very gracious, kind and seems very aware of the circumstances between Dusty and Sue Ellen. They explain that they met on the rodeo circuit and that Linda has loved Dusty since she was a little girl. Linda asks for Sue Ellens well wishing and Sue Ellen manages to fake it, though she still seems very jarred by the news. The cake topper to all this, is that Linda states that when she and Dusty have a little girl; they will name it Sue Ellen. Dusty and Linda leave to go tour the ranch. Clayton apologizes to Sue Ellen, saying he didnt know about Dustys marriage. Later that evening, Sue Ellen makes a phone call to Southfork and tells Miss Ellie she is coming back.
Back in Kansas, we meet Rays younger cousin, Michael. He prefers to be called Mickey. He shows up briefly at Aunt Lils on a motorcycle. He is rather short and sarcastic with Aunt Lil and Ray. He makes a rude comment about Amus Krebbs and speeds off of his bike. Ray and Donna seemed concerned about the way Mickey treats Aunt Lil.
Amus Krebbs funeral has only a few attendants. Mickey leaves right after the funeral and Ray has a heartfelt moment at his mothers grave, where he is whispering to her. Donna and Aunt Lil look on. It is a very sweet and touching moment.
Dusty and Sue Ellen have a dramatic discussion about whats happened in their lives. Dusty tries to assure her that he has made the right decision and that he didnt marry Linda, until after he heard of her remarriage to JR. Sue Ellen is unconvinced and sets to return to Southfork. Though she tells Clayton that she isnt sure she will marry JR. Her and Clayton exchange I Love yous and she leaves. Clayton is left looking sad and lonely.
JR meets with Punk Andersen and encourages him to announce the scholarship at the Oil Barons Ball. Punk seems convinced and JR wins again.
Ray is mowing Aunt Lils lawn. Mickey is going to leave and Aunt Lil suggests he stay home today and spend time with Ray and Donna. Mickey continues to be flippant and rude to his mother, so Ray grabs him by the shirt to sets him straight. Mickey jumps on his motorcycle and speeds away again. Ray is left looking frustrated and worried for Aunt Lil. Ray apologizes for losing his temper with Mickey, but she is grateful.
Everyone is in the den, of the newly remodeled Ewing house and all dressed up and leaving for the Oil Barons Ball.
We see the Ball. Its a lively scene, with people dancing and drinking. All the Oil Barons are there; Marilee Stone, Jordan Lee, Cliff Barnes, Holly Harwood and , of course, The Ewings. They all socialize and dance for awhile, until its time for Punk to announce Jocks scholarship. He asks Miss Ellie to say a few words. Miss Ellie, in tears, makes a lovely speech about Jock, with JR and Bobby at her sides. This is a big moment for her. It seems she is finally coming to terms with Jocks death, which had been such a struggle for her in the past. After the ball, back at Southfork, the family is gathered for drinks in the den. Miss Ellie proposes a toast to Jock. She announces she is going to call Harv Smithville in the morning, cause its time Jock was laid to rest legally.
