This guy looks surprisingly healthy for a dead man.

This show begins with a car being stolen. Unexpectedly, in the course of investigating this crime, an odd set of fingerprints are found in the car--those of an enemy agent who is supposed to have been dead for a decade! Obviously the man is alive--but where and what are his intentions? Eventually, Drake is able to find this supposedly dead man. However, it seems unlikely he's still an agent. But, the story isn't that simple--there's a lot more to it than that.

The show has a few nice twists and an interesting plot. Plus, I was thrilled to see the character actor, Finlay Currie, in the show. Sure, the part was small, but I'd watch Currie in anything! Worth seeing.

Drake looks for a dead man

Warning: Spoilers
John Drake's Mission: Discover if a enemy agent, thought to have been dead for ten years, is actually alive and living in northern Scotland. It seems his fingerprint turned up in a stolen car.

After a couple sub-par (well, sub-par by Danger Man standards) episodes it's nice to see things getting back on track. I found The Gallows Tree to be very entertaining. The The twist at the end was nicely played - at least I didn't see it coming. The location shots are quite nice, as is the supporting cast. The cast, by the way, is filled with a slew of long-time British character actors. Overall, an excellent way to spend about 25 minutes.

I just noticed that this episode was remade into one of the later hour long episodes. I'm looking forward to checking that out at some point.

Dead man is alive and well

Another captivating episode with the no-nonsense Drake tracking a spy believed to have been dead for ten years - His fingerprints show up in a stolen car - and this leads to Northern Scotland and everything looks cosy - but is it?

It's amazing that the plot is so satisfying and well told in 25 mins - no frills, just a stripped down spy melodrama told with energy.

Similar to Hour-long episode: That's Two of Us Sorry....

Warning: Spoilers
A car is stolen. The fingerprints match those of a former British Agent - who's been gone for years. This is another episode of the original 1/2 hour series where there are strong similarities to a later, hour-long episode.

Nothing against DANGER MAN - in any form, hour or 1/2 hour - it's still one of the best shoes EVER. This episode is a case where there's strong similarities to a later - hour long episode. In this case, the 1/2 hour THE GALLOWS TREE has a strong connection with the hour long THAT'S TWO OF US SORRY.

I enjoy these cases of similarities between the short and long episodes, because they let you see how the same basic structure is handled in the 2 different formats. The 1/2 hour one tells the story in a tighter-structured, quicker pace. The hour-long episodes open the stories up.

While this isn't the only time this happens during the show(s) run (and it takes NOTHING away from either format), the authors of the teleplays are usually different.

More important, it shows what a wonderful talent pool there was on these shows - where these similarities still allow for the viewer to be surprised, and enjoy every moment of each.
