This well written episode showcases Miss Cathcart eager to get a mate. She's trying to get a reluctant TV repairman to share her refreshments while Dennis learns from his mother that Miss Cathcart needs a best friend to take care of her. Meanwhile
Mr. Wilson believes Fremont, his dog, is at the pound and asks Alice to drive him there. Mel Blanc has a cameo as Mr. Trinkle at the pound and is entertaining with those voices. Dennis sees a great old dog, Trinkle calls Arthur part Airedale and Afghan, who's waiting for a good home and Dennis plans to give him to lonely Miss Cathcart.
Dennis and Tommy go to see Miss C. And tells her about Arthur who could be a good friend and a bit about his background. She's intrigued and can't wait to meet him and give him a meal. Dennis buys Arthur and asks Mr. Wilson to show Arthur some good manners which is just a filler. When they arrive back without Arthur she's disappointed but they say he's with Mr. Wilson.
Arthur's real owner finds that Dennis Mitchell bought him to give to Miss Cathcart and gets her address. Arthur is really the owner's name and when this good looking man shows up at her house she is gloriously excited.
Dennis and Tommy keep trying to give the dog to Miss Cathcart and she doesn't want to be interrupted until she finds Arthur is a dog. The married owner is elated to see his dog, breaks her TV by mistake but will get a year of free TV service so she can try again with her repairman. A mix up that works well with the fine comedy of Mary Wickes as Esther Cathcart.
