In the 3rd episode of the 11th season of the popular crime series DERRICK on the then West German television station ZDF, the Potsdam-born actress Susanne UHLEN (*1955) can be seen as "Manuel's nurse" (first broadcast: March 2nd, 1984). The man in question, Manuel (Sascha HEHN), has been in a wheelchair since an accident and has had a new carer for a few weeks now, thanks to whom he has visibly revived. A vaguely charged rapprochement develops between the two attractive young stars. The quite erotic tension is released in a surprising crime plot that develops into a German-German drama.
As the daughter of Edgar Wallace diva Gisela UHLEN (DAS INDISCHE TUCH) and Hitchcock star Wolfgang KIELING (TORN CURTAIN), there could only be one calling. Susanne Uhlen was in front of the camera early on. She had beautiful film roles in BIS ZUR BITTEREN NEIGE (1975) and SEITENSTECHEN (1985). She was a regular on television anyway, particularly worth seeing in the literary adaptations NESTHÄKCHEN (1983) based on the novel by Else URY and VOR DEM STURM / BEFORE THE STORM (1984) based on the novel by Theodor FONTANE. In the meantime, Susanne UHLEN was also active as a theater director.
