Comment about Jerry on the train
rerunwatcher19 February 2022
This was just one sentence on this episode. Milly says something about Jerry riding the train every morning. It has been clearly stated on this show that Jerry (who was a dentist) had his office his house which is next door to Rob and Laura. No need to ride the train every day.

Rob can't win for losing it seems

Warning: Spoilers
Episodes like this make me annoyed with many aspects of the 'Laura Petrie' character. In this episode we have Laura wheedling an offer for her and Rob to spend the weekend at Millie's sister's lake-cabin when Millie and Jerry suddenly cannot go for some reason. Millie makes an offhand observation that on each of 3 previous offers for Rob and Laura to go to this lake-cabin,for some reason Rob has balked at the last minute so Rob and Laura have never actually made it to the lake yet. Laura brings the idea of a weekend at the lake to Rob,and suggests Rob take Friday off of work. Rob does not want to leave the rest of the crew at work 'in the lurch' by taking a day off with no advance notice just because Laura finagled an invitation to the lake-cabin. To make a long story short it is revealed that Rob has a 'mental-block' of sorts about going to the lake. Laura is worried half to death that this 'mental block' is some sort of major,marriage-ending crisis which is at the bottom of this hesitation by Rob. Rob eventually does chat with a psychiatrist and gets to the bottom of his issue and manages to go to the lake after all with his worrysome wife.

The problem that Rob had in his past was with a 'bully' at a different lake-cabin,but the basic problem seems to have followed him to this lake-cabin in the present day only now it is his wife Laura that 'bullies' him. Rob doesn't ever speak-up for himself in too many of these episodes so it is hard to take the Rob Petrie character seriously. All of these observations go to show what good writing and inspired acting went into the making of this show. If a character can annoy you or make you feel strongly this way or that way,I say it means that everyone involved with the show did a great job. This show had some excellent episodes, this was one of them. 85/100 solid episode.

Lake Sissy Manoonoo?!?!?!
planktonrules11 December 2023
For some time, Laura has been anticipating a nice, romantic weekend with Rob at a resort called 'Lake Sissy Manoonoo'. However, every time they are about to go there, Rob has some sort of problem which necessitates canceling the trip. Because of this, Rob is determined to go this fourth time they are supposed to go to Lake Sissy Manoonoo. However, Rob's back goes out and he can barely function! Now Rob is starting to wonder if there is some subconscious reason for the back injury, so he goes to see a psychiatrist after jerky Jerry suggests this.

The who psychological angle is stupid...and fortunately the show seems to say that as well. I really appreciate this and think the show isn't bad at all.
