- Laura gives Rob an expensive watch at a birthday party attended by several family friends, but when the watch goes missing shortly after the party, Rob reluctantly concludes that one of his close friends may be a thief.
- Laura throws Rob a surprise birthday party. After everybody has left to go home, Rob can't find the new expensive watch Laura bought for him as a gift. Rob and Laura turn the house upside down but can't find the watch. Although neither wants to believe it, both come to the conclusion that the most logical explanation is that one of their friends at the party - Jerry, Millie, Buddy, Sally or Mel - stole the watch. The most obvious culprits are Jerry or Buddy as the pranksters, but both deny pulling any such prank or any knowledge of the watch's whereabouts. As Rob and Laura try to find out what happened to the watch, all their friends come to know what is in Rob and Laura's minds, although Rob and Laura say they don't suspect any of the five as having taken the watch. The situation gets even worse when Rob tries to salvage some monetary value of the watch by collecting the insurance money. Laura and Rob come up with a plan both to salvage their friendships and to find out if any of them actually did take the watch.—Huggo
- At the conclusion of Rob's surprise birthday party, with everyone gone home, Rob's new expensive watch goes missing. Having searched the house, he and Laura suspect one of their guests took it - a suspicion they don't like as their guests comprised only their closest and dearest friends. When Rob reports the loss to his insurance company, they send Mr. Evans to investigate, a smug man whose accusatory nature quickly makes everyone hate Rob and Laura. In the end, with Jerry, Millie, Buddy, Sally and Mel under suspicion, the culprit turns out to be the last one anybody suspected.—statmanjeff
