The skunk that climbs into George's bedding has a fully white back. When George later pulls back his blanket to reveal the skunk, it is now almost entirely black with only a couple of white spots on its back and the tip of its tail.
Mike Fink places a full cup of whiskey atop a barman's head with the intention of shooting it off. The barman shakes nervously, causing a bit of liquid to spill from the very full cup. Once Davy Crockett enters the scene, the barman drops the cup from his head and it is completely empty. Even the sound of it hitting the ground is that of an empty cup bouncing against the floorboards rather than a full cup falling and spilling.
After Mike Fink rips off part of one of his men's shirts to use as a towel, the amount of material missing from the man's shirt changes between shots.
Stock footage of wildlife is used to supplement sequences involving wild animals. The footage is of a noticeably different quality than the new footage.
When Mike Fink is pulling his keelboat into harbor, the footage is noticeably sped up, leading to his men falling unnaturally quickly when they lose their footing.
When Mike Fink first notices a Native American encampment, the footage of the Natives is slowed down, leading to awkward slow movement of the people and smoke moving through the air and dissipating unnaturally slowly.
Location shooting of the river on real boats was supplemented with studio shooting featuring a projected backdrop. The change between the two types of shots is very noticeable, as the lighting and film quality are completely different.
When Davy goes ashore to tie the rope to Mike Fink's boat, it is very obvious day-for-night shooting.
When navigating the falls, Davy tells the captain he'd "better get below." They are in a flat-bottom boat. There is no below deck on such a vessel.
When Davy ensnares Mike Fink's ship, causing Mike to have to stop to untangle, Davy suggests that his crew get some rest. It is later found that Davy tied his own boat to Mike's to allow Mike's crew to pull them along, saving his crew the effort of pushing themselves. Davy's crew could have instead used Mike's delay to get ahead of him.
Mike Fink berates a barman for "wasting" good whiskey by spilling it from the cup balanced atop his head via his nervous shaking. As Fink intends to shoot the cup off the barman's head, he will be wasting all the whiskey in the cup, not just the bit that is sloshing over the top.
