Mike and Duncan attend a lecture by Loftus on first aid. Neither are particularly good at it. Unfortunately they are put on Casualty duty. Woken in the middle of the night, they have to help out an injured shopkeeper and a strange man named Smith ( Dudley Sutton ) who has a bleeding ear and foot. It turns out that the latter is the robber, and is being pursued by a policeman. When Upton goes back to his room, Smith is there waiting for him with a knife...

A not particularly amusing episode, one gets the impression it was written just to make up the numbers. The main source of humour appears to be Mike and Duncan's ineptitude at first aid, particularly the application of bandages. Norman Wisdom appeared in a movie with the same title, and it was funnier. To make matters worse, Dick, Paul and the others are not in it.

Dudley Sutton was 'Tinker' in 'Lovejoy' and 'Reg Urwin' in the 'Porridge' classic 'The Desperate Hours'. Patricia Shakesby, the nurse, was in the 'Likely Lads' episode 'Older Women Are More Experienced'.

Funniest moment - Upton reports to Casualty, clutching the front of his dressing gown. "I've lost the cord!" he says to another doctor ( Royce Mills ). "What, umbilical?", he asks.
