Review - The Big Net Aired 10-25-56
The Big Net refers to the dragnet set up to catch the suspect; unfortunately, a uniformed policeman died on duty in this episode, attempting to apprehend the suspect. He took several slugs fired by the suspect, before the perpetrator was justifiably a homicide. The episode was top-notch for several reasons, a view of same will show why it is rated high.
The story tells of a man robbing, assaulting women, carrying a gun. Policewomen are assigned to decoy the victim bus passengers protected by two policemen at all times. The suspects come in for questioning, but are dismissed for reasons explained in the program.
Friday, Smith get the call with the suspect pinned down at a warehouse, having attempted to rob a policewoman. She escaped unharmed, but a uniformed cop was struck down, taking several slugs, and pronounced dead in front of Friday, Smith. The surprise and sad ending was well acted by all concerned in this episode, making it a must watch.
