Lucy's complete change in behavior and cognitive ability demonstrate just how wrong Carter was about methylphenidate (Ritalin) only needing to be used by "hyperactive children", and how wrong and unprofessional he was to butt into her personal business. While most kids with ADHD outgrow the condition not all do, for those people who continue to experience ADHD into adulthood methylphenidate, when taken at therapeutic doses, is a very effective medication that allows them to lead a normal life, and some people wind up needing to take it their entire life.
The kid that Dr. Weaver treats is named Jack Toberen. This is a reference to one of the editors of the series, Jacque Elaine Toberen.
The title is from a song from Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical 'The King and I'. The original Broadway production opened at the St. James Theater on March 29, 1951, ran for 1246 performances and won the 1952 Tony Award (New York City) for the Best Musical.
Julianna Margulies (Carol Hathaway) & John Doman (Dr. Carl Deraad) also worked together on episode 3.2, The Death Zone (2011), of The Good Wife (2009) as Alicia Florrick & Oliver Cardiff respectively.
