I have been impressed with Oberleutnant Kluge's deduction abilities.

He was a policeman in Hamburg and he is a sharp cookie indeed.

Kluge is recruiting informers in Guernsey and is happy to coerce a few locals to help him out.

He gets a tip that Dr Martel's son has returned to the island. The Germans has seen a photo of him and knows that he has joined up. His unit is somewhere in Britain.

Clive Martel is on the island to find out just what the Germans are up to. He thinks Teddy Lupus will help him out but soon discovers that things are now different. Teddy is one of these people now under Kluge's influence whether he likes it or not.

Peter Porteous wants Clive to get through to his sister, Claire. She seems to go out of her way to upset the Nazis. This time she is showing her contempt to a disfigured German pilot called Kessler.

With the Nazis knowing that Clive Martel is on the island. I did think Claire took a big risk going out to see her brother. She could had been followed and her brother would have been caught.

Maybe the ending was weak. Kessler was feeling sorry for himself for the evil he did on the Poles. He already had a death wish but here it just did not come across as dramatic.
