Trace: What is it I'm offerin' to sell to the highest bidder? Why, it's nothin' more or less than meself. Now then, who'll start the bidding?
Tim Doonan: Three haypence.
Trace: Naww. Why, it's plain to see you don't appreciate the quality of the goods I'm offerin' ya. Why the ornamental value alone is worth double that... to say nothin' of the benefit of me society.

Goes beyond what one would expect in a TV episode.
Found this TV episode on a video bought at yard sale (love to find those lost treasures). Errol Flynn, the swashbuckler of earlier days, had visibly aged by 1957 and in fact died two years after this was made. He was only about 48 in this TV show, but looked like a man in his sixties due to his hard drinking and living younger days. He had his real family acting in this movie with wife Patrice Wymore and son Sean Flynn. He played a traveling man (near hobo) who auctions himself off to the highest bidder to make some eating money. Patrice plays a widow with a son (Sean)who buys him to work for three months around the farm for five pounds (takes place in Ireland). He begins to shed his wayward thoughts as he makes the little farm better and improves the son's rebellious attitude towards his mother. You can perhaps guess the rest, but I found the story to be quite engrossing to the end. The acting was very good on all parts although young Sean Flynn seemed a bit uncomfortable with the part a few times (only about 16 at the time. Errol was naturally great as always. Patrice Wymore was an excellent actress with charming good looks. I'm surprised she didn't go further in pictures but who knows what went on in real life. It is said she moved to Jamaica and became a successful farmer (just as in this movie only in Ireland). She was Flynn's last wife from 1950 until his death in 1959. Flynn's son Sean became an adventurer in real life much like his father in pictures. He went to Africa and then became a photojournalist. In covering the Vietnam War he disappeared at the Cambodia border and was never heard from again. It is thought he was killed by the enemy. He was only about 29 at the time. There is another actress in the show that should be mentioned, and that was Edna Morris who played a housekeeper to Patrice. She was a character actor who was a good addition to the cast. Very few people, if any, will read this. However, if you have a chance to catch - Strange Auction - from the 1957 episode of Errol Flynn Theatre - by all means watch it - well worth the look.
