Steve gets wired
gregorycanfield19 May 2021
Observant viewers will recognize that J Lamont Pope (Chain) is the same actor who would go on to play Curtis, in later seasons. He is believable as the leader of the Dragons. The episode has a somewhat gritty feel to it. Not typical of the series, but done effectively. Steve proves that he is really not what he appears to be. He goes all out, to help Carl capture the Dragons. There's little interaction between Steve and Laura here, but there is a great moment where Steve shows his love for Laura-without saying a word. When Chain tries to touch Laura, Steve slaps his hand. Wow! Steve had courage. For Laura, Steve would do anything! Very good episode. However, a slight issue with Laura. I'm a big fan of Laura, but she could have given poor Steve a little peck on the cheek!

Steve Crimebuster

This episode is another honorable mention, it's another action episode in the show, I always love these kinds of episodes because their something different I never really saw in sitcoms.

The plotline is plausible as it deals with gang violence which unfortunately still happens, the Dragons gang are totally unlikable as their always putting on the tough guy act, pushing people around, and acting like they own everybody and everyone, which is what most gangs do. Seeing them once again reminds us that the Steve and the Winslow's live in the real world, which give the episode an element of danger.

We then see the Dragons trash Rachel's Place for no good reason or simply just no reason at all; however that's not the worst of it when we see Eddie has been beaten up by the gang. Just like Carl seeing that really got the magma inside me flowing fast, that to me was the straw that broke the camels back. And of course, it's Steve/The Urkman to the rescue as he goes undercover to infiltrate the gangs and exterminate their reign of terror once and for all.

Really love how Urkel was selling it which is exaggerated but both funny and kind of cool at the same time; really bought him as a bad to the bone tough guy with a short fuse. The funny moment was when he was tearing up that bad of Cheetos in fury, it was so random but funny all the same especially what he says about them.

Also like that get up he had on, Steve actually looked really cool with that black leather jacket, the crucifix earrings, the purple tied hood wear, just everything, wonder if anyone ever went to a comic con and dressed up like that.

You could also say Steve is almost a bit of a bad ass in the episode as the undercover op is dangerous as he's clearly up against the odds, plenty of tall gangsters in the room, but he sticks with it and doesn't give in until his mission is complete.

As an old saying goes, when the going gets tough, the tough get going, Steve is a tough guy.

Interesting and funny episode. I especially like it when they show other "areas of the neighborhood" in the show; it really helps to flesh the world out.

Possibly the best episode of the series.

I am currently watching everything with the late, lovable Jamie Cardriche in it. In this episode he plays the member of a gang. This episode has drama, and humor in it and hits really close to home here in 2020. Maybe if certain groups understood who were actually the problem and who isn't this world would be a better place. Never gonna happen.

Born to Be Mild (#3.9)

Warning: Spoilers
And now a little action episode as Steve goes wired to the local gang for proof that they did destroy Rachel's place and beat up Eddie that can be used against them.

It sure has a cure Urkel moment when he gets off his shirt trying to look all action hero like.

And he looked really cool as a gang member, the high school girls would love him if he would change his outfit for that.

And Carl and his partner during the arrest were hilarious as well But it is a bit stupid that the gang was so easy to overtake and fool by Steve.

"Don't come back either! Gonna get a haircut!"

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode we have the "Dragon" crew, a bunch of bullies who go around destroying what they please, when Laura and Rachel both shut them off with the help of Carl from Rachel's Place, they revenge on Eddie. I though this was a little above average episode, but nothing more than that, I don't really see how it is the highest rated episode of the entire show, above episodes like "Fight The Good Fight" , "Marriage 101" and "The Show Must Go on". I thought the premise was good but Eddie's "pain" was kind of rushed, we didn't really felt that pain, and Urkel while being excelent in the infiltrated persona, did kind of drag the episode, I would rather much prefer a more Eddie focus episode, and it was wasted, the ending was corny as well. However it was still a different and impactful episode. 6/10 ****** Peter Shelby
