Brain over Brawn (#3.2)

Well the main storyline is kind of stupid. I can't see how Steve won, what he done had absolutely nothing to do with rope climbing. One could make it that he "outsmarted it" by lets say make others question what he did and him saying that he won because technically they said that the one who first gets to the top wins, without mentioning how to get to the top. But this way everyone acted as if Steve actually won rope climbing. This doesn't add up and in a way also sends the younger audience a wrong message on cheating in sports.

But it brought us some awesome scenes, including the one of Steve hanging on the rope not wanting to let go.

The start of the real Urkelmania!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode Steve challenges Alex Thomas , Laura's new crush to a rope climbing contest, where the loser gives up Laura. Carl insists on fixing the roof with some danger results. I thought this was one average episode, with a lot of problems, first of all let's adress how Steve's storyline while being interesting and filled with good moments, doesn't really make any sense in the end, how in the hell does Steve wins, with that trick, of course the science feat is admirable but id doesn't have anything to do with the sport itself, the semantic of Steve saying "the one who gets up there first" doesn't convice anyone. This was a mark in the show, Steve doing a science "project" that was unrealistic, the first of many and many, but one of the more minimalistic ones. Carl's storylines is just kind of sad, it's so repetitive, how many episode have we had where Carl tries to fix something on it's own when everyone is telling him not to do it? At least 2 or 3, and this is a very specific plot line to be done more than twice. Some moments like the last one of Steve erupting the house are great, and actually tie the two storylines together, which I always apreciate ! 5/10 ***** Peter Shelby

While I can see the point made that Steve sort of cheated the system here (and that this could potentially send the wrong message to kids), I feel the overall positive message of the episode far outweighs this little flaw.

Personally, I was glad to see Steve come out on top over that egotistical goon. Would it have been even more awesome and funny to see a training montage and see Steve still lose but feel proud that he did his best? Sure. But in my opinion, Steve flying through the city skyline out of control while strapped to a jetpack is a suitable replacement.
