Nice And Slow
Jimmy_the_Gent422 May 2022
Fred is robbed and feels like a coward since he didn't do anything.

One of Season 4's best and one of the most memorable quotes.. When the robber sticks a gun in his back, Fred puts his hands up (holding two bowling balls) and robber tells him to count to a thousand and count "nice and slow, that's the way to do it, nice and slow". This became one of the most quoted lines for Flintstones fans. Funny scenes as Fred keeps trying to demonstrate how he couldn't do anything but each person flips him over. There is also a spoof of boxers. The champ is Sonny Dempstone (Sonny Liston and Jack Dempsey). Great scene when Fred meets up with the hold up man again.

What can you do? You can see I didn't have a chance...!!

Warning: Spoilers
In today's world, the premise of this episode may not be as amusing as it probably was back in the 1960s. The subject matter has become all too true to life. Actually, I don't think Fred was a coward. Money can be replaced (and how much could Fred have had in his wallet)? All the people that were so quick to judge Fred didn't have a gun pointed at their backs. In any case, a very funny episode with some memorable lines. While watching the news on TV, Fred and Wilma hear about the brave Llewellyn J Fosbrick. When Fred tells Barney about this, he says Llewellyn D Fosbrick. I don't know if this was even intended to be funny, but it always made me laugh. Many laughs, as Fred tries to convince everyone (particularly Wilma) that he wasn't a coward. Why wouldn't anybody believe him, when he told them he didn't have a chance? Great ending, when Fred encounters the thief again, and proves his bravery. Nice and slow, see. That's the way to do it.
