Don't take our pet!
mitchrmp20 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The set up: A prince and his guardian are floating on the high seas when their boat hits a rock and gets a leak. Flipper saves them and drags them for shore. The prince's guardian (whatever his official title is) and the prince spend some time with the Ricks, and the prince's guardian decides the dolphin would make a perfect gift for the prince. Porter has no choice but to give him up.

Bud/Flipper: Bud hears the conversation and takes Flipper to hide him. Unfortunately, Bud gets stung by a scorpion and it is up to Flipper to get help.

Porter: He is very upset and gets angry when the 'guardian' suggests they are hiding Flipper on purpose - mainly because he accused Porter's son!

Though this is a retelling of a different story told about five different times during the two seasons, it had a twist of Bud's injury. Unlike this one, we see the actual father/son reunion which is usually left out of the scenes.

I swear, these kids have nine lives!

Bud runs away ....again
wrxsti547 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This time he has a good reason. The story begins with 13 year old Crown Prince Kaza from the mythical kingdom of Rugat who is being minded in the US by a State Department official. They get grounded on a reef while sightseeing in the Coral Keys Park just as a storm is brewing and are rescued by Flipper.

Porter invites the two to stay and Kaza gets on great with Bud, Sandy and Flipper but the State Department official decides to make Flipper an official gift from the US to Rugat to curry favor with the King so that Rugat will become allies with the US. Bud overhears the official and Porter arguing over this gift idea and he runs away in the skiff with Flipper.

While trying to find an inlet cove to hide Flipper, Bud is stung by a scorpion and eventually collapses leaving Flipper to return to the dock to persuade Porter to find Bud. Kaza decides that Flipper's relationship with the Ricks' family is too important to overrule so he quashes the idea of the gift and all part as friends.

Implausibility time: who would send such a young prince to the US alone. Oh and large scorpions are the least poisonous - a bite to a teenager of Bud's size would only result in painful swelling rather than passing out which would happen if a smaller more potent scorpion stung a small child.
