Feeling Out Process
Hitchcoc20 September 2019
There isn't a lot to this episode but it further develops the tension between Frasier and his father. With Daphne living in, he has lost all his privacy. His father is a harsh, practical man. Frasier is often a big baby and only involved in his own feelings. Still, one can relate to his pain.

I like the salad and scrambled eggs song. I hope that gets played more often

This episode in many ways feels like the Pilot/first episode again, with many of the same themes and beats from that episode being repeated. I was initially a bit disapointed by this, but when you see the next few episodes you realise how important this one was.

Because after two episodes of set-up 'Frasier' than sets off on a wonderful course, it simply flies. BUT, it needed these two first outings to set its stall out before it could do so.

So well done to the creative team for realising that, rather than just trusting the spun-off central character would be able to hold the fort and that we'd surely love the new characters in time.

We get introduced to them again, we pick up their styles and personalities, it doesn't feel like people panicked and said "we need them to have sitcom misadventures right away".

If only 'Joey' years later had followed this lead.

Necessary for plot development

This is one of those dry episodes at the beginning of any series that essentially is fluff but is necessary to develop the plot. For instance this episode explores the tense relationship between Frasier and his father Martin, which does get better over time. It's not the most exciting episode but is still worth a watch.
