- Narrator: [Opening Narration. Viewers see Richard Kimble, suitcase in hand, walking through a small community, seeking employment] A Fugitive is like a long distance runner with a difference. A Fugitive's distance is infinity. Infinity is a long, impossibly long, way away. And there must be time for the hunter to rest, to gather strength and to move on again.
- Narrator: [Epilog Closing Narration. Viewers see Richard Kimble walking through the back country and approaching a country road as he again escapes] Richard Kimble, both the hunted and the hunter. The truth that will free him is somewhere up ahead. He'll find it.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Your grandson was given back to you, not many people get a second chance.
- Joshua Simmons: [hesitantly] It can't be God's will. Not with doctors and medicine.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: How do you know I wasn't sent here? Why did I come to this house, why did I come to this town? Do you know?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: How old are you, Ruthie?
- Ruth Simmons: 17.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Young mothers can learn about their children. Child feeding. Symptoms of illness. There are several good books on it. You're not married, are you?
- Ruth Simmons: No. But that doesn't mean I love Billy any less.
- Pete Edwards: Who are you, mister? A drifter. And you're not like any drifter I ever seen. There's something with you, you know? I done feel it. A lawman gets to feel them things, you know. There's two reasons a man keeps on the move. Either he likes the life, or, well, somebody's looking for him. I think somebody's looking for you, mister.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Why don't you read your good book again? Read about forgiveness and love and understanding. And while you're at it, read the Fifth Commandment.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Doc?
- Doc Martin: Yeah?
- [groggy and struggling to get into a sitting position on his bed, as he's just be woken]
- Doc Martin: yeah, yeah?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Mr. Feeney thought you might be able to use some extra help.
- Doc Martin: Oh. Yeah, yeah, I sure could.
- [Rubbing his face, eyes still closed]
- Doc Martin: I sure could use some help. You're hired. I'll be with you in a minute.
- [falls back asleep]
