Barometer Blues
JordanThomasHall21 September 2017
Buzzy (police/military character actor Stafford Repp, "Chief O'Hara" in "Batman") and Binnie Fenwick (Diana Herbert) are antique collectors excited to visit Gull Cottage. They find interest in a very rare English James Gatley barometer, circa 1770. The pair visits owner Claymore Gregg (Charles Nelson Reilly) and offer him $2,000 for it. Claymore can't refuse, but is afraid to take it from the ancestral ghost of Captain Gregg (Edward Mulhare). Claymore goes to a local cabinetmaker Deke Tuttle (Mason Curry) and pays him $50 to quickly build a replica and swaps it with the one in Gull Cottage. Unknown to Claymore, the captain switches it back and Claymore gives the Fenwicks the fake. The pair brings policeman/restaurateur Norrie Coolidge (Dabbs Greer) who arrests Claymore and holds him in the Schooner Bay Jail and City Hall- comically a cell in the back of his restaurant, Norrie's Lobster House. Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) offers to help Claymore and shows up at his arraignment, comically held in the dining room between the lunch rush at Nellie's Lobster House. A nice, engaging episode with comedic touches.
