- Chief Carl Kanisky: [after Katie is brought home by police for shoplifting] What the hell were you doing?
- Katie Kanisky: Don't make a big deal out of nothing.
- Chief Carl Kanisky: Nothing? To me, stealing is something! A big something!
- Katie Kanisky: Yeah, to you, everything is "a big something".
- Chief Carl Kanisky: I get paid to put crooks like you in jail.
- Katie Kanisky: Will you stop acting like a cop? The whole thing was a joke.
- Chief Carl Kanisky: Well, then, how come I'm not laughing?
- Katie Kanisky: Dad, all my friends do it.
- Chief Carl Kanisky: I know all your friends. They're a bunch of bums.
- Katie Kanisky: You don't understand anything.
- [walks away]
- Chief Carl Kanisky: I understand that my daughter's a thief. What would your mother say?
- Katie Kanisky: Well, she can't anything. She's dead.
- [Carl slaps her across the face]
- Katie Kanisky: Did that make you feel good?
- Chief Carl Kanisky: Now, that's enough, Katie.
- Katie Kanisky: Why don't you just get out your rubber hose?
- Chief Carl Kanisky: That's it! You don't listen to me, you run around with trash, you're failing in school and you're failing your family? I want you out of this house. I'm not taking care of you anymore. You think you got all the answers? Go ahead, make it on your own.
- Katie Kanisky: Fine!
- Chief Carl Kanisky: Fine.
- Katie Kanisky: [running towards the stairs] I can't wait to pack and get out of this house!
- Chief Carl Kanisky: Don't steal the bed!
