Originally scheduled to be broadcast on November 22, 1963 but postponed due to CBS' coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. By an eerie coincidence, it reenacts the assassination of Wild Bill Hickok by Jack McCall in Deadwood, South Dakota in 1876.
Although aired for the first time in January of 1964, this episode about the later years and murder of Wild Bill Hickok had originally been scheduled for November 22, 1963, the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It was, therefore, preempted by news coverage of history making events such as the return of newly sworn-in President Lyndon B. Johnson to Washington, D.C., escorting the widowed former First Lady Jackie Kennedy.
