A sharp-tongue staccato talking woman named Stella Damon comes to Dodge with the idea of buying the Long Branch and settling down. When she talks to Kitty about buying her place, she does more of making Kitty mad than getting on her good side. Soon Stella has brought a place across the street with the idea of opening a saloon and gambling place to compete with the Long Branch.
When Stella gets Festus to get her help in building the new place all things look bleak for the Long Branch. When the whiskey salesman, Eddie, comes to town he finds that Kitty is not selling but the new place across the street wants a large order. When Eddie finds out that Stella is the new owner he remembers that she use to sell to her in Pueblo but her place caught fire and burned to the ground with her husband inside. He thought it was strange that she would be able to open up a fancy looking place in Dodge.
It will not be long before Stella resorts to quiet Eddie for all that he knows. And in the end, she will not do as well as she did in Pueblo about hiding.
The best thing about this episode is the friction between the two ladies. It could have been an all out cat-fight but the writer let Kitty take the high road and just reduced it to insults. It was a story that held interest to the end. Perhaps not the most entertaining story but was one that your enjoy watching.
