As Paladin tells his would be employer, "The balance is perfect." He says the barrel has rifling "which is rare for a hand weapon." The pistol was built "to my specifications. This trigger responds to a pressure of one ounce. And I rarely draw it unless I mean to use it."
The Hotel Carlton in San Francisco
He has many out-of-town newspapers shipped to him at the hotel. He goes through them methodically, looking for accounts of people who are in situations that may require his services. He sends would-be clients a letter and encloses his business card, which reads, "Have Gun -- Will Travel, Wire Paladin, San Francisco."
All black, although in this episode he wears a string tie that appears to be white with black polka dots. He would lose the tie after several episodes.
The actual colour of the shirt and trousers is midnight blue, but it doesn't read in black and white. The official word is that Paladin dressed in black. The costume was all that would fit Richard Boone's large frame (6'2" and 210 lbs) when he went to the Western costumier to be outfitted. Ergo, Paladin would dress in black. There's more than one dialogue reference to Paladin's 'black clothes' or 'black suit' in the series.
The white tie was the idea of the costume designer. It was meant to hint that Paladin plays for the White Hat team in spite of his sartorial choices. Boone refused to wear it after the first few episodes because it struck him in the face when he was riding at a gallop. The tie reappears occasionally because the episodes aren't shown in the order in which they were filmed. BY:lexyladyjax

In the premier episode, it's $1,000, although over the course of the show it would vary according to circumstance.
Bernard Herrmann, though he would not get a credit. He is credited with this episode's music, but never got a theme credit during the series.
It is officially credited to Johnny Western, Sam Rolfe and Richard Boone. Apparently, the vast bulk of the work was done by Western, with Rolfe writing a lyric or two. Western has been quoted as saying he put Richard Boone's name on the song out of gratitude for the opportunity.
