Kim and Craig help Lucy land a date for an upscale soiree, but he turns out to be a jewel thief.

On paper, this sounds like your typical silly plot in Lucyland, but it's actually one of the better episodes of the season. The plot advances logically, and Lucy's zaniness is a result of her reaction to circumstances, it's not just her clowning for the sake of it. There is also a lot of realism in the script, with Lucy being caught off-guard looking her worst when her date first arrives. It's great when she lies and says she's the maid.

This is Mary Jane Croft's first HERE'S LUCY appearance but she has little to do but lend an ear.

Kim mentions she and Craig having entertained at a party - some nice continuity that harkens back to Episode #1 ("Mod Mod Lucy").

Lucy looks fabulous in the party scene wearing a classy gold gown. The bit with her digging through the cocktail sauce with her hands has been repeated on everything from LAVERNE & SHIRLEY to DESIGNING WOMEN. Best part is when she unknowingly uses another woman's dress to wipe her hands.

The always-great Barbara Morrison plays the rich hostess but she doesn't get to be funny here. Oddly her dress makes it look like she's going on a summer picnic. Maybe all the wardrobe budget was spent on Lucy's outfit??

Caesar Romeo makes a dashing suitor for Lucy, even if he turned out to be dastardly.
