Viv Gets Matched With "Horrible Harry"
kgraovac26 November 2023
When Lucy consults a computer dating service to get Harry a woman, who should show up as the perfect match but Viv.

This is Vance's first appearance on the new series. I can't enjoy this episode as much due to Viv's hideous meatball hairdo. It's so unflattering. She looks too frumpy like in the old Ethel Mertz days. Diana Ross had the same 'do around this time but it looks even worse on a white woman. Seriously, couldn't Irma Kusley have found a decent wig for Vivian to wear??? Or was this Lucy's doing - payback for deserting her back in '65??

Lucy asks "Harry, how come you never married?" as if the pink ascot he's wearing around his neck isn't a dead giveaway. She does tell the man at the dating service "he's fat" in regards to Harry. LOVE how un-PC television was back then.

In the restaurant scene before Viv makes her entrance, character actress Alice Backes has a great line about her flat chest. It's funnier than the dialog in this scene between Lucy and Viv.

Gale Gordon looks like he's wearing lots of rouge in the office scene where he keeps asking "Does she have a good figure?".

Rhodes Reason appeared in the first of the two LUCY SHOW Carol Burnett stewardess episodes as the passenger Lucy flirted with. The best part of the episode is when he mistakes Lucy and Harry for a couple and Vivian takes advantage of the mistake and walks out the door with him on her arm.

BEWITCHED did a computer dating episode a little while after this aired. It must have been the IN thing at the time.

Fun to see Vivian Vance

Fun to see Vivian Vance. She plays an old friend of Lucy's. Vivian is a computer date for Gale Gordon's character. But she does not go out with him due to a twist at the end.
