Legend has it that Roberto Contreras was annoyed with always playing bit roles in TV Westerns, so he had his agent insist that he would only sign for the second season if he was made a clear central hero one week. The producers agreed, and thus "The Firing Wall" was specifically written making him the savvy hero who saves all the other characters.
