Hogan is negotiating with Klink in Klink's office, after photographing the list of generals attending the meeting. Hogan leaves the office, at which point there is a fade to the barracks, assumed to be after the pictures of the list are developed. The fade-in is a wide shot of Newkirk as he is reading the list of generals. At this point, there is a cut to showing Newkirk and Hogan, with the view from Newkirk's right side. Before the cut, Newkirk is holding the magnifying glass in his right hand, as one would do normally, with the handle in the palm of his hand. His hands are opposite each other, with the picture in his left hand. After the cut to the two-shot, Newkirk is still holding the magnifying glass in his right hand, but he is now holding the handle as though it were a fork or spoon, with the lens above his knuckle. His right hand is also positioned across his left hand, which is holding the picture of the list.
Hogan gets the order to knock off the generals, and declares the mission volunteer-only. As Hogan polls the men to see who is in or out, Kinchloe and LeBeau accept, but Newkirk, in a close-up, says, "I'm still thinking about it." Newkirk then starts taking a drink of something in a ceramic mug, holding the mug in his left hand by the handle. There is a cut to a wide-shot of the group, and Newkirk is now holding the mug to his mouth, the mug in his left hand, but not by the handle. The handle is facing to his right.
Why would the guards be playing cards in the banquet room? They should be standing at the door guarding the room.
The first time LeBeau rides up the dumbwaiter, he appears to pull on the rope, but the rope doesn't move, which suggests that he was pulling himself up as if he were climbing the rope. This physically cannot work. Normally, the dumbwaiter rope is a large continuous loop that runs up and over the main driving pulley, which turns the mechanism, another (driven) pulley with a counter-balanced wire or rope, that raises and lowers the car of the dumbwaiter. The main driving pulley is much larger than the driven pulley, which provides the leverage that makes it easy to raise and lower the car of the dumbwaiter. So, as LeBeau was pulling on the rope, it should have been moving several feet for every few inches the car moved up. In this case, the rope was not moving at all.
When Hogan is reading the notes from Kinchloe on the meeting, at the end, when there is a cut to a close-up of Hogan, he says, "By us." When he says that, he folds the note to one-quarter size (a second fold) along a crease that already exists. However, when Kinchloe handed the note to Hogan, it was only folded once (in half). This indicates there were multiple takes on this sequence.
When Klink is interviewing Jacques Mornay in his office, he mentions General Burkhalter's name, that has a different speech pattern, as if from a different recording when he answers the phone. It also appears that Klink did not even say the General's name, so it was dubbed in.
Klink and Schultz are in the banquet room with the rest of the generals. If the bombs planted in the room had gone off as planned, they would have been killed as well. How did Hogan and the others plan to continue their operation at Stalag 13 with new (and likely more alert) replacements?
