Warning: Spoilers
Kelly Barnes from Detroit Today is interested in Tim. Why? No idea. She just shows up on set one day after Tool Time to meet the Tool Man personally, and she's really got a thing for tools. Men's tools. At home, Jill is sick as a dog, and Brad, Randy and Mark are complete jerks who don't notice and still expect her to cater to their needs. Tim gets home, all excited about the profile Kelly wants to do on him, and he's too dazed to notice Jill either. So because Ms. Barnes is such a fan of hand tools, especially men's hand tools, Tim dedicates the next Tool Time to manual hand tools. No power. First, he demonstrates how to cut mahogany using a hand saw, which is much more difficult than it sounds. Despite the show being a colossal failure, Kelly still wants to continue her expose' on Tim, by way of following him down to Harry's, and then to his house. All the while, Al notices that Kelly is flirting with Tim. It's plain as day she wants his tool, man. Dense Heidi can't see it, but then she's not a sexual being like Al. So while Kelly and Tim go shoot the breeze at Harry's Hardware, Al drops by the Taylor house to give Jill his special vaporizer...circa Custer's Last Stand. Even Jill could tell Tim was getting hit on, and though Al tries to deny it and assure her it's nothing, but he knew better.

Suddenly, Tim, Kelly and a cameraman burst into the house, interrupting Al and Jill's very awkward conversation. Gee, bringing strangers with a camera into the house while his wife is sick. Tim is certainly a considerate fella, and wasn't it nice to not even warn Jill ahead of time? So as the Tool Schmuck escorts Kelly around the house, Jill and Al clearly notice his hand is awkwardly placed on her waist. We even get some Three's Company style sexual innuendos coming from behind a closed door, as Tim is in the garage showing Kelly his tools. Before they head down to Big Mike's to see how the Tool Man concludes his day, Jill calls him out on the little "signals" he's sending Kelly and warns him that he's crossing the line. As usual, he doesn't notice, but tries to assure Jill that he's not into Kelly, because she's not his type. As usual, the only sane person who can be turned to in times of crisis is Wilson, who stops by to bring Jill some homemade hot toddy, which gives her spirits a much needed boost. He manages to assure Jill that even though Tim may be unintentionally undressing Kelly with his eyes, his love for Jill is tougher than mahogany. Meanwhile, down at Big Mike's, Kelly invites Tim to play some pool, so Tim racks up the balls and...speaking of racks, Kelly shows him hers. What a tease. Tim tries to whack his balls, but... OKAY, I'll stop with the double entendres, it's too easy. Tim is trying to shoot, but he's distracted by Kelly's melons. So, Kelly shoots first. She knocks those balls right into the holes, and can she handle a stick! My, but pool is a perverted game. Finally, all this ball play comes to a head when Kelly tries to kiss Tim, but he thankfully backs away and shoots her down. It seems he WAS sending her signals, albeit unintentional ones. He finally sees the error of his ways and admits that he got carried away, like always. So after being a gentleman and giving Kelly a lift home as a way of saying 'thank you for hitting on a married man', Tim goes home to a plastered Jill. He apologizes for being a conceited A-hole and even brought Jill a small peace offering: nasal spray.

Oh boy, this one was BAD. The writing was horrible, the plot was threadbare, why did it need to exist? Because we already had an episode where a guy hits on Jill, so we needed one where a woman hits on Tim? Also, Jill being sick is a plot point they've reused over and over on this series. Why is she always the one who gets sick, considering she's home most of the time? Eye on Tim was boring, unfunny, awkward, poorly written, poorly acted, poorly directed. It just really sucked. There was no build up as to why Kelly Barnes wanted to interview Tim, except she liked tools. So? Do an expose' on a hardware store or something. A little character build-up might have been nice, as well as why she's so interested in Tim. So thanks once again, Bruce Gerber, as well as Lloyd Garver, for penning a lousy episode. I recommend skipping it, and I also recommend skipping the next episode, Bud Bowl, because it's a BAD Bowl.
