Ralph is delighted with the pajamas Alice's mother has given to him for Christmas. But in other episodes Ralph and her mother clearly do not get along and she really doesn't think much of him. It's hard to believe she would buy Ralph nice pajamas and he would like them so much.
When Ralph comes out of the bedroom wearing his new pajamas that he received from his mother-in-law, obviously just woken up, he's wearing his shoes (not slippers). Obviously, he did a quick change in wardrobe and didn't consider his feet.
Norton thinks he has a solution for Ralph's problem by forcing Alice to wait until next Christmas to open her gift and the following conversation take place (note the second part of what Norton says):
Norton: You know those labels that say, "do not open til Christmas"? Ralph: Yah Norton: We get some labels, see, put on Alice's present, "do not open til after Christmas", see? Come on, let's go get some labels.

When Ralph gets his Christmas gift from Alice, Gleason flubs his line but recovers. He says, "A bowling bag ball...I mean a bowling ball bag."
