Billy Mumy as the boy who cried wolf
kevinolzak5 November 2016
"Whatever Became of Baby Custer?" guest stars popular child actor Billy Mumy, then beginning his three year run on the CBS series LOST IN SPACE, in a 'boy who cried wolf' scenario. Young Custer Jamison (Mumy), a great fan of Captain Nelson, catches Tony and Jeannie floating in the air, then sees Jeannie blinking into a puff of smoke. Dr. Bellows is quite pleased to listen to Custer, and for the first time hears about Tony's mysterious girlfriend. Unfortunately, both get caught looking through Tony's window by a passing police officer: "first time I've seen a peeping tom giving on the job training!" Every time Custer sees Tony float the doctor isn't looking, and when the boy disappears Tony fears that Jeannie has done something terrible to him. This was the last of 11 episodes shot during Barbara Eden's pregnancy, all completed well before the show debuted on Sept 18 1965, which covered every broadcast through the end of November (this accounts for the many veils she wore in these early entries, successfully hiding her secret from the viewing audience).

Oh William my dear boy!!!
PizzaHips5 September 2022
This episode starts out with Tony, in his blue uniform, wondering who Jeannie was talking to in the kitchen. Why do they keep switching between brown uniforms and blue?? Makes no sense. Writers sorta slow maybe. Well Jeannie let's Tony know her Aunt Fatama was there all week. Tony wants to say goodbye then realizes she is a fish.... Huh? It cuts to the next scene where Tony is in his brown uniform camping home and when he walks in you can tell they edited Jeannie saying "I'm out here" She's floating and Tony says "You can't do that out here Custer May see you" Custer???? He's not been mentioned at all through the 1st 10 episodes. Writers just winging it Billy Mumy from Lost in Space shows up as Custer.

I've noticed Larry Hagman wears his watch weird.

Custer then just walks right into Tony's back porch area and sees them floating in the air. Enter Custer's parents and surprise it's Major Jamison... Who??? He's a neighbor??? Larry Hagman started drinking midway through this season and I can see why.

Plus they were all in their blue uniforms again!

Major Jamison sees Dr Bellows and talks to him about Custer seeing Jeannie floating and then disappearing into pink smoke. He already forgot about Tony talking about seeing a Genie from a bottle???

I must be in a crabby mood......

Jeannie Gets Lost In Space
DKosty12315 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is a visit by a boy named Custer who is also a boy named Will Robinson on another channel. The twist here is Custer is a big fan of Tony Nelson and catches him with Jeannie. He reports this to Dr. Bellows and complications happen.

Where the fun comes in is Tony explaining a lot of strange things like floating in air and the smoke of another day with Jeannie. The good thing is Dr. Bellows does not meet Dr. Smith which would have given everybody a headache.

Still there is scene with Custer and Bellows being approached by a cop who thinks they are peeping Toms at Tony's House.
