Peter Braithwaite is an old paranoid farmer. His farm has tight security with a vicious dog and a shotgun kept nearby.
He is a war veteran who thinks the Germans are still after him. When a lost Swedish student mistakenly turns up one evening, the student is staring down the barrel of Peter's gun.
The farmer has a grandson who is willing to look after his cantankerous grandfather. It might mean selling his farm. He also has a lot of war memorabilia which could be valuable to a collector.
When Inspector Kate Longton calls round to see Peter she witnesses him being harassed by someone pretending to be a Nazi.
This is an unusual story even a bit offbeat with a few red herrings. Inspector Longton suspects who the culprit might be. We even see the farmer lighten up a bit when he is in the pub playing darts. I did think the overall story was just too far fetched and silly.
