There are two plot holes. 1)Lutefisk is, to put it politely, an "acquired taste". Many Scandinavians cannot tolerate it; of the remainder, the majority can tolerate a tablespoon or two at Christmas. A few generally like it, but only after a long acquaintance. It is therefore doubtful that Bobby could eat the quantity he does at first exposure. 2) Given the caustic nature of lutefisk it is likely that the intestinal distress Bobby experiences would begin during ingestion or less than two hours afterward. The story suggests that the onset began around twelve hours after ingestion which seems doubtful.
