Nancy Parsons: Mary Hennepin
Quotes
-
Mary Hennepin : My apartment's just across the street from the liquor store. Convenient if I need a little créme de menthe.
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : Yes, right. Miss Hennepin, how much of my arrest did you actually witness?
Mary Hennepin : Oh, beginning to end. Totally uncalled for. That policeman used excessive force.
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : And would you be willing to testify to that effect at my trial?
Mary Hennepin : Oh, goodness, yes.
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : [sighs] Miss Hennepin-- Mary? You're a dream come true. I'll have my assistant come in to take a statement.
Mary Hennepin : Shouldn't we discuss the remuneration?
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : Well, there'll be certain out-of-pocket expenses: eating lunch, taking a bus. Oh, of course, and renumerated you shall be.
Mary Hennepin : Not to mention the value of my time.
[Douglas hangs up the phone. Receiver clatters]
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : Exactly what dollar sum did you have in mind?
Mary Hennepin : Oh, I don't know.
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : Ballpark it.
Mary Hennepin : An even grand.
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : $1,000?
Mary Hennepin : I've seen the car you drive, you can afford it.
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : Madam, I will not participate in bribery.
Mary Hennepin : 800?
[Douglas wants Miss Hennepin to leave. Door opens]
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : You'll not get a penny from me.
Mary Hennepin : 700.
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : Not one red cent.
Mary Hennepin : Take it or leave it.
Douglas Brackman, Jr. : What kind of a sucker do you think I am?
Mary Hennepin : First class.
[Douglas founds out that Miss Hennepin has left her yarn, and Douglas throws the yarn out of his office, but the yarn catch by Roxanne. Door slams]
