I Hate Jeannie!
dougmacdonaldburr3 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I hate Jeannie with the red hot fire of a thousand suns. This episode makes me feel stressed out. Larry is trying to host a live talk show and this horrible woman is choosing this time to fight about their marriage. Threatening to divorce him if he doesn't make time for her during a live tv show with millions of people watching! The woman is a psychopath. It is completely unreasonable. The man is trying to do his job. If he loses his job she would probably leave him too. Jeannie is a horrible woman and I am so glad they got rid of her.

Larry has trouble both with his wife & focussing on his show
Woodyanders4 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Larry (Garry Shandling once again exquisitely cranking up the angst to 11) has difficulty keeping his mind on his show when his fed-up wife Jeannie (sharply played by Megan Gallagher) appears backstage to discuss their faltering marriage.

This episode nicely captures just how hard it can be for married celebrities to effectively juggle their personal lives with their professional careers. One definite highlight occurs with a marvelously awkward moment in which Catherine O'Hara stumbles into a private conversation between Larry and Jeannie. The female staff trying and failing to comfort Jeannie provides another gut-busting highlight. Ditto Billy Crystal taking Larry to task during a commercial break for flubbing his initial interview with him. Everything gets resolved in a simply hysterical manner with Larry making Jeannie appear at the end of the show as a surprise impromptu guest. An absolute riot.

Absolutely embarrassing episode

From a drama and writing perspective it's a very decent episode. The problem is the public. The audience who thinks Jeannie isn't a whiny entitled brat who is skipping the opportunity to grow and be an adult and a wife. Characters are allowed to have flaws. They even should do there can be growth. But the amount of people who seem to have modeled themselves after THIS episode makes it pretty unbearable to watch.
