The memo of doom
Woodyanders21 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The staff of Larry's show are thrown into a tizzy by a scathing memo written by new substitute producer Jonathan Litman (ably played to the smarmy hilt by Ian Buchanan).

This episode astutely nails the butt-kissing and backstabbing that goes on behind the scenes of Larry's show with hilariously merciless clarity, with both bitter head writer Phil (an excellent Wallace Shawn) and the ever-insecure and paranoid Hank (Jeffrey Tambor, terrific as usual) in particular deeply rattled by the excoriating comments said about them in the memo (Hank even goes as far as to get an earring in an attempt to look younger!). Hank's heart to heart chat with grouchy producer Arthur (Rip Torn, who's really on fire here) rates as another gut-busting comic highlight. Very funny stuff.
