This is one of the episodes I remember watching when Las Vegas was a first-run show on TV back in 2004.

I was impressed then and I am impressed now.

It holds up as one of the best episodes of the entire series, thanks largely to it shining a light - if you'll pardon the pun in an episode where the lights go out in Las Vegas - on the complicated history between Mary and Danny, revealed whilst trapped in a Montecito elevator with a stranger who doesn't have much to say. What could have been at the end of this episode...

Standout performances across the board. Duhamel and Cox are great, of course. So is Vanessa Marcil as a sleep-deprived, running-on-caffeine-only Sam, who works with Delinda and Nessa to find a murderer in the dark. James Lesure as the claustrophobic Mike, who is trapped in ops with Ed and Mitch, is fun as well.

A very well crafted episode that helps build the lore of these characters.
