This episode was about a Sheriff who didn't seem to have courage. His wife was very, very upset with him and ashamed. Sheriff Shaw was played by Claude Adkins, another wonderful and talented character actor! He's another one of my favorites. Though he usually plays a bad guy, he was actually pretty decent of a guy in this episode (as wall as in one episode of Rifleman called "Meeting at Midnight.").
The sheriff uses the excuse that the Kolb's support the town and if they were gone, the town would die. Well, that would be better than eleven citizens dying.
In the end, his wife showed to have more courage then him. I won't tell the way it ends, but let me just say that I don't think there was any other ending that would have worked in this situation. What happened had to happen.
