Another Excellent Episode!

Warning: Spoilers
Again I ask...Why did this show only last a season? This is a wonderful show! Paul Fix was playing Micah at the time on "The Rifleman," but he wasn't too busy to go to TR spin off. I'm glad he did. He did a wonderful job. I don't know if I was imagining things or not, but there were a couple places where he looked like he was in Micah's character and held his arm sort of limp...

Bert Freed, of course, is always a great bad guy. Richard Rust was also on The Rifleman. He played a good guy on there, but in this episode he was purely evil! Sam did nice to leave him among the living!

I was disappointed that the man who played Mr. Coleman at the beginning was not credited. Does anyone know who this actor is?

I must again give this episode a ten!

Toll Road
Prismark107 March 2024
That is a big territory Deputy Marshal Sam Buckhart covers. It takes him a few days ride from Santa Fe to get down to the Dawson's property.

Old man Dawson spent years building a toll road. It would save cattle ranchers and other travellers days and hundreds of miles by taking the toll road.

Dawson and his wife never intended to charge much, enough to keep them in a comfortable retirement.

They never had a chance. Just as the toll road was opened, they were both shot dead by Healy and Benson. They kept their daughter Ellen alive who Healy was sweet on.

Davey was also sweet on Ellen and planned to marry her. He has called on Sam Buckhart as far as he is concerned, all three have suddenly disappeared.

Healy and Benson tell Sam that they have a bill of sale. The Dawson's sold the land to them and Healy has married Ellen.

Sam smells a rat and it's not just the casual racism. Sam needs to break Ellen down who is far from her sunny personality.

I found it all a bit cheesy. Sam could had just arrested these two strangers on suspicion of murder and then talked to Ellen one on one or let Davey talk to her.
