- Andrew Hawthorne: Sometimes I amaze even myself. Think you can keep this gentleman contained while I go after the other rascal?
- Andrew Hawthorne: I often remember things I don't want to. Memories just pop into my head uninvited ever since the war. Nothing to be ashamed of, sir. I saw how you handled yourself today. You're a warrior.
- Lazarus (James Cathcart): Thanks for the drinks. Now I'm going to buy myself a shirt I couldn't afford this morning.
- Andrew Hawthorne: That's what I like. A man with priorities.
- Andrew Hawthorne: After we lost I couldn't really go back. Couldn't face everyone. I'm sure you're familiar with that feeling. Maybe you aren't. You fought for the North, didn't you?
- Lazarus (James Cathcart): I didn't want these men killed.
- Andrew Hawthorne: It's unfortunate, but these things happen.
- Marshall: Hawthorn brings in wanted men for kicks. He's a bounty hunter.
- Lazarus (James Cathcart): That doesn't make him an outlaw.
- Marshall: He likes to kill them more than capture them. That isn't normally a problem, except he got carried away.
- Lazarus (James Cathcart): Marshall, I'd like to ride with you.
- Marshall: I thought he was your friend.
- Lazarus (James Cathcart): Too strong a word. He did save my life though.
- Andrew Hawthorne: I did not mean to leave the path of righteousness, sir. But I fought in that bloody war. And it changes a man.
- Lazarus (James Cathcart): There's a moral line in life. Sometimes it's hard to see. But you crossed it.
- Andrew Hawthorne: I am unarmed but for this sword. Do you accept those odds. Or will you shoot me down?
