- An elderly man arrives on the stage in Tombstone. He is looking for Curt Dance who is a known gunfighter and outlaw. When the man finds Dance in the Alhambra, Dance doesn't recognize him. But, when the man tells dance when they last met, Dance wants nothing to do with him. Earp asks the man to give Dance his privacy unless he has a charge. The man continues to stalk Dance sitting and staring at him each day as he plays cards. The man is later found beaten so they take him to his room at the Cashman Hotel. John Clum goes with Earp to talk to him and recognizes him as a well known but retired Judge Amos Waggoner. The Judge refuses to tell Earp what his interest in Dance is so Earp sends a wire for details. He learns the Judge once acquitted Dance on a murder charge. Earp hears the Judge has challenged Dance to a duel but Earp stops Dance taking his place. The Judge fires an empty gun at Earp thinking he is Dance and faints. Earp guesses the truth which the Judge confirms. Earp has a plan to remove Dance from circulation for a while but his plan fails.—Anonymous
